| If you do not immediately receive the Internet Connection Wizard asking for your display name but instead Outlook Express just opens then: |
| In Outlook Express goto Tools --> Accounts |

| Click the Mail tab |
| Click the Add button and select Mail |
| This will cause the Internet Connection Wizard to pop up and ask for your display name. |
In the Internet Connection Wizard dialog box: |

| Enter your lastname, firstname |
| Click Next |
|
 |
| Enter your law school email address |
| Click Next |
|
 |
| For "My Incoming mail server is a:" select IMAP |
|
Incoming mail server: Enter mail.capital.edu |
|
Outgoing mail server: Enter mail.capital.edu |
|
Note: mail.capital.edu may or may not work as your outgoing mail server. If you try to send an email and receive an error message then you will need to enter the SMTP server of your ISP. |
| Click Next |
|
 |
| Account name: Enter your law school username. |
| Password: Enter your password Note: If you leave Remember password unchecked then you will be prompted for your password everytime you check your email. |
| Leave Logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unchecked |
| Click Next |
|
 |
| Click Finish |
If you are asked about viewing a list of available folders |
|
 |
| Click Yes This refers to the folders (inbox, deleted items, sent items etc.) located within your law school mailbox |
|

| Click OK |
Specify authentication for the outgoing mail server |
| Open Outlook Express |
| Tools --> Accounts |
| Click the Mail Tab |
|
 |
| Select the account (this will likely be called mail.law.capital.edu) |
| Click the Properties button |
| Click the Servers tab |
|
 |
| check the box labeled “My server requires authentication” |
| Click the Settings button |
|
 |
| Select “Use same settings as my incoming server” |
| Click OK |
| Click OK again |
| Click Close |
