culSpace
The Capital University Law School wireless network is named culSpace (and pronounced "cool space").
To use culSpace you must have a Capital University Law School network username and password. Vista laptop users should follow instructions at this Link.

Connecting to culSpace:
You will notice in the lower right corner of your desktop that a wireless network has been detected. Click on the notification
bubble, if the notification bubble is not present, right-click on your Windows wireless icon and choose "View Available Wireless Networks".


In the Wireless Network Connection
section, you will see “culSpace” as a detected wireless network. Click on the “Connect” button.
** If there is not wireless network detected, click on “refresh network list” link in the task pane to the left.

A Wireless Network Connection notice will appear
that will tell you that culSpace is unsecured. Click “Connect Anyway” button.
** Please note: culSpace is secure once you connect to it and enter your username/password in the following steps below.

Wait a few moments and you will notice that culSpace wireless network will start "Acquiring network address".

Within a few moments, culSpace will then be “Connected”. Close the Wireless Network Connection box.

Open up Internet Explorer on your laptop.

You may encounter a problem with the website’s security certificate page. Click on
the “Continue to this website” link. This will take you to the authentication page (to securely connect to the culSpace wireless network).

IE will then be redirected to the culSpace authentication page.

Enter your Username/Password and click the “Login” button.

Page will start to authenticate your credentials

Once you have authenticated successfully, IE will go to your homepage.

| To prevent the certificate warning from popping up each time you authenticate you must install the certificate: |
| Click View Certificate |
| Click Install Certificate |
| Click Next |
| Select Automatically etc. and Click Next |
| Click Finish |
| Click Yes |
| Click OK |
| Connection Problems |
| 1) If you own a Dell D410, D610 or D620 that you purchased through CULS you can set power management on your Intel 2200 or Intel 3945 wireless adapter to maximum. |
| NOTE: setting power management to maximum will cause your battery to drain quicker. |
| Open Control Panel --> Network Connections |
| Right-Click Wireless Network Connection and select Properties. |
| Click Configure |
| Scroll down and select Power Management |
| Make sure use default value is NOT checked |
| Move the slider all the way to the right (Highest) |
2) Install the latest drivers for your wireless adapter. |
| If you purchased a Dell laptop through CULS you can download the latest drivers here (drivers are most recent as of 11/22/2006): |
| Dell X300 - Dell Wireless 1350 (size: 50MB) |
| Dell D600 - Dell Wireless 1450 (size: 50MB) |
| Dell D610 - Intel ProSet 2200 (size: 92MB) |
| Dell D410 - Intel ProSet 2200 (size: 92MB) |
| Dell D620 - Intel ProSet 3945 (size: 92MB) |
3) Make sure the Wireless Network Connection is configured to obtain an IP address and a DNS server address automatically. |
| In order to be permitted access to the CULS network and to the internet through the CULS network, your laptop must receive an IP address from the CULS network. |
| Open Control Panel --> Network Connections |
| Right-Click Wireless Network Connection and select Properties. |
| Scroll down, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and Click Properties |
| Select Obtain an IP address automatically |
| Select Obtain a DNS server address automatically |
| Click OK |
| Click OK |
4) If you are unable to access network resources such as the lab printer or your network folder, or messenger will not connect, or if you are unable to do anything that requires network/internet access but does not require a web browser then make sure you have authenticated against culSpace. |

| If you are redirected to the culSpace login page then you need to enter your CULS username and password before you will be able to access any network resources or the internet. |
