Following is the course description as contained in the Manual of Policies
and Procedures of Capital University Law School.
EXTERNSHIP (2 or 3 credits): Selected students are
placed with a court, governmental or not-for-profit agency to provide
them with the opportunity to apply the substantive law and lawyering
skills learned in the traditional curriculum. A faculty monitor closely
supervises the student, under the coordination of the Faculty Externship
Committee. Course credit is predicated on 55 working hours for each
one-semester hour of credit. Grading is on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory
basis. Prerequisites, Co-requisites, and other limitations on enrollment
are announced in advance. Students may take the externship program more
than once, for a total of no more than 6 credit hours. See Section 4.11
