The Philip J. Fulton Law Office National Moot Court Team is Capital
University Law School's most selective intercollegiate moot court team.
It provides students with an intense intellectual challenge in a practice
setting, with training from attorneys, judges, and faculty advisors.
In 2002, the Philip J. Fulton Law Office agreed to enhance the advocacy
program at Capital University Law School by designation for the Philip
J. Fulton Law Office National Moot Court Team. The firm agreed to financially
support the team with an annual contribution to be used towards expenses
associated with competitions.

More about the Philip J. Fulton Law Office ]
The Philip J. Fulton Law Office National Moot Court Team is Capital's
premier interscholastic moot court competition team. Each year the students
selected for membership participate in two prestigious interscholastic
moot court competitions: The National Appellate Advocacy Competition,
sponsored by the Law Student Division of the ABA; and the National Moot
Court Competition, sponsored by the Association of the Bar of the City
of New York. Each of these competitions involves two levels or oral
arguments: regional qualifying rounds and national finals. Capital's
Philip J. Fulton Law Office National Moot Court Team has enjoyed tremendous
success. Teams from Capital have qualified at the regional level to
participate in the national finals seven times in each of the past two
decades. In 1987 Capital won the national title in the National Appellate
Advocacy Competition. In 1990 it advanced to the national semi-finals
and made it to the national quarter finals in 1993, 1999, and 2001.
The students selected for membership to the team also compete internally
in the National Moot Court Honorary Round every fall. During the Honorary
Round students deliver oral arguments to a distinguished panel of judges.
At the end of the round the judges name one team member as Outstanding
Oralist. The student who is selected as the Outstanding Oralist during
the fall Honorary Round also receives The Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers
/ Philip J. Fulton, L’80 Excellence in Oral Advocacy Award. The
award includes a one-time $1,500 scholarship.
