Student Services Committee

The Services Committee was created to enhance the student experience. The membership includes Dean Mays, Dean Willis, Dean Mihely, Dean DiSanza, Deb Ranard, Shawn Beem, Terry Thompson, Christine McDonough and Carmel Martin. One way in which this committee is reaching its goal is the formation of work groups to create programs and activities that benefit students.

Hot Topics Work Group
The purpose of the Hot Topics Work Group is to provide a structure for immediate discussion of current topics. This group’s membership includes Dean Mays, Dean Willis, and Chris McDonough. Past programs have included the Michael Vick and Jena 6 panels. Future topics have not been decided on, however we are looking for suggestions. If you are interested in providing some ideas or other comments for the group, please email Dean Mays .

Wellness Work Group
The purpose of the Wellness Work Group is to address the mental or physical health of students. This group’s membership includes Dean Mihely, Dean Willis, and Terry Thompson. A past program was stress reduction tips and techniques. A future program in the works is bringing in massage therapists. If you wish to provide feed back, please email Dean Mihely.

Good Cheer Work Group
The purpose of the Good Cheer Work Group is to schedule fun activities for students during the school year. It is comprised of Dean DiSanza, Shakeer Abdullah, and Shawn Beem. This group provided food at the end of Summer session, held Faux Fall Break, and has conducted raffles. It plans to continue with these types of activities this upcoming semester. Capital Improvement Committee
The Capital Improvement Committee is dedicated to addressing ways to improve the overall atmosphere and environment at Capital as one that is clean, professional, hospitable, and environmentally conscience. In 2008-2009, the Committee will work with law school administration, faculty, and student organizations to address the law school’s recycling program and daily housekeeping functions as well as brainstorm ways to make the law school’s facilities more inviting.
